In Washington, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a recall of 492,145 Ford Explorer vehicles from model years 2016-2017 due to a potential safety risk with the door trim detaching while driving. This issue, which could pose a hazard on the road, was identified by Ford Motor Co. as early as 2019 but was not initially classified as a significant safety concern. However, after receiving numerous reports from vehicle owners about the problem earlier this year, Ford conducted a thorough investigation, leading to the decision to recall the affected vehicles. The automaker stated that the trim detachment was caused by improper adhesion and confirmed that no accidents or injuries had been reported as a result of this defect. Ford plans to begin notifying owners on June 9 and will cover the cost of repairing the faulty trim at Ford or Lincoln dealerships once a solution has been determined. The NHTSA recall number is 25V347, and the manufacturer’s recall number is 25S53.
