Florida Man Shoots at Door-to-Door Salesmen Who Knocked at His Door

A 72-year-old man from Florida has been arrested for reportedly shooting at salesmen as they were leaving his property.
The incident occurred while the salesmen were offering solar panel packages in a Port Charlotte neighborhood on Monday, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. The salesmen had knocked on a door where a woman expressed frustration and asked them to leave.
After leaving the property, the salesmen heard gunshots and saw the man, later identified as William Mark Williams, aiming a gun at them. Williams fired multiple shots as they ran to seek refuge at a neighbor’s house.
The neighbor called 911 and deputies arrived at the scene to apprehend Williams, who was identified as the shooter by the victims. The neighbor also mentioned hearing gunshots before the salesmen sought shelter at her residence.
Sheriff Bill Prummell stated, “Once again we are called out to a neighborhood in which a firearm was discharged recklessly. Thankfully, nobody was hurt by this individual’s actions, though I am sure the victims will not forget the fear they felt any time soon.”
Authorities obtained a search warrant for Williams’ residence and discovered several firearms and ammunition inside, along with one spent and one unspent casing outside. Williams declined to cooperate with detectives and requested legal representation.
He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public and is being held without bond.
