Ferrari 296 Speciale: Carbon Parts, More Downforce, Nuclear Speed

Not all Ferraris are created equal, and the new 296 Speciale and Speciale A models are proof of that. These latest offerings in the Ferrari lineup are designed to impress, boasting impressive stats and performance capabilities.

The heart of the 296 is its powertrain, which combines an 867-horsepower plug-in hybrid system with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine. The Speciale benefits from the same engine mapping and boost strategy as the 296 Challenge race car, featuring advanced components like titanium connecting rods and upgraded pistons. The electric motor adds an additional 177 hp, delivering power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed DCT gearbox.

Both the fixed-roof 296 Speciale and the Speciale A convertible offer the same power and performance, shedding weight through the use of carbon fiber components. The exterior design features new front and rear bumpers, a retractable wing, and enhanced aerodynamics for increased downforce. Inside, a minimalist design with carbon fiber accents adds a touch of luxury to the cabin.

Ferrari has fine-tuned the suspension of the 296 Speciale, incorporating titanium springs and Multimatic adjustable shocks for improved handling. The car rides on special Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires and features a new five-spoke wheel design for a classic yet modern look.

While Ferrari has not disclosed the exact pricing for the 296 Speciale, estimates suggest it will start around $464,000. This latest addition to the Ferrari family promises top-notch performance and luxury for discerning buyers.
