FAE Launches its Most Powerful Mulcher for Excavators, the UMM/S/EX

FAE has broadened its selection of forestry mulchers by introducing the new UMM/S/EX model, specifically designed for excavators like feller bunchers weighing between 25 and 40 tons. This mulcher is created to swiftly clear out large wooded areas or green spaces, capable of cutting through trees and vegetation up to 16 inches in diameter with a working width of 62 inches. FAE states that with this new addition, their mulchers can now be utilized with more potent vehicles that were previously underutilized for this purpose.

The mulcher’s hydraulic system can deliver a flow rate ranging from 66 to 119 gallons per minute and a pressure of up to 5,800 pounds per square inch. It is equipped with a 100-cc VT automatic variable displacement motor to ensure a consistent working speed, enhancing mulcher efficiency, reducing stalling, and optimizing fuel consumption. Additionally, a double poly chain belt transmission enhances power transfer and reliability.

Featuring Spike Pro bolted counter blades for finer mulching and simplified maintenance, the mulching chamber is protected by bolted safeguards made from an anti-wear material. The Type-C rotor allows for the use of different tooth models for diverse applications, with side teeth aiding in keeping the crushing chamber clean.

Constructed from steel, the frame includes standard features such as a hydraulically adjustable front hood, a deflector, a dust-resistant enclosed machine body, reinforced side plates, and adjustable skids. The head, available in UMM/S/EX/VT-150 size, can be equipped with C/3, C/3/HD, BL, or K/3 tools.

Optional features for the UMM/S/EX/VT/DT-150 model include a 160-cc VT hydraulic piston motor, a bite limiter rotor, custom attachment bracket kits, and a 24V diverter valve with a control box. Key specifications for the UMM/S/EX/VT/DT-150 model are as follows:
