European body proposes mass killing of cormorants to protect fish stocks

A fishery organization in the region is aiming to decrease the population of cormorants in Europe by implementing a coordinated culling strategy. This decision is based on the reported negative effects of these aquatic birds on fisheries and aquaculture. The European Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Advisory Commission (EIFAAC), a division of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is leading this effort.
