After 25 years with ESPN, longtime “SportsCenter” anchor Stan Verrett is set to leave the network later this summer as his contract will reportedly not be renewed, according to Front Office Sports. ESPN executive Dave Roberts expressed gratitude for Verrett’s contributions and wished him continued success. Verrett confirmed his departure on social media, stating his life is now in Los Angeles and expressing gratitude for his time at ESPN. He assured followers that he is not retiring and is looking forward to new opportunities. Verrett has been with ESPN since 2000 and served as the 1 a.m. ET “SportsCenter” host since 2009. He worked alongside Neil Everett in ESPN’s Los Angeles studio for about 14 years before Everett’s departure from the network in June 2023. In March, ESPN announced the relocation of the Los Angeles edition of “SportsCenter” to its Bristol, Conn., headquarters. Verrett and Linda Cohn co-hosted the final LA episode, with Everett making a special guest appearance.
