The driver of a pickup truck who caused a fatal collision with a tour van near Yellowstone National Park last month, resulting in the deaths of himself and six others, was found to have a blood alcohol level more than double the legal limit. Isaih Moreno, 25, had a blood alcohol content of 0.20, while the legal limit in Idaho is 0.08, as disclosed by state police on Friday. ISP Captain Chris Weadick emphasized the importance of the incident as a warning against impaired driving, stating that such choices can have severe consequences. The tragic crash occurred when Moreno, with a BAC of 0.20, swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with the tour van carrying 14 people, resulting in both vehicles catching fire. Six people on the van lost their lives, including international victims from China and Italy, as well as residents of California. Moreno, a resident of Humble, Texas, also perished in the accident. The crash site is a well-traveled road connecting Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, which sees increased traffic during the summer months. Authorities highlighted the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day as a time of heightened traffic fatalities, often caused by alcohol-related incidents. The Idaho Transportation Department urged responsible decision-making to prevent such tragedies, emphasizing the impact of impaired driving on families and communities.
