DHS report accuses Kilmar Abrego Garcia of human trafficking

Senator Chris Van Hollen, a Democrat from Maryland, met with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran immigrant deported from the United States to El Salvador by the Trump administration. The Department of Homeland Security reported that Garcia, a suspected MS-13 gang member, may have been involved in human trafficking while in the U.S. He was stopped with eight individuals in a vehicle during a traffic stop in Tennessee in 2022, leading authorities to suspect human trafficking. The DHS also noted Garcia’s alleged affiliation with MS-13. Senator Van Hollen is seeking Garcia’s return to the U.S. and visited him in a Salvadoran prison where he is being held.
