Delta State Govt Deploys Number Plate Detection Device For Enhanced Traffic Management, Security

The Delta State Government has introduced a new system for traffic management and security that utilizes a technology called VIS PlateDetect. This system, developed by Soft Alliance, is aimed at tracking, monitoring, and penalizing traffic violators. It also helps in regulating traffic flow, parking management, and toll collection by using Optical Character Recognition to convert vehicle number plates into alphanumeric data. This data is then cross-checked with the state’s VIS database to ensure immediate identification and compliance with state regulations.

The Delta State Government has recently implemented the VIS PlateDetect system, following in the footsteps of the Lagos State Government. This innovative technology utilizes Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras to enhance traffic management and security. In a presentation by the Delta State Government, the importance of adopting advanced technologies to tackle urbanization and traffic issues was highlighted, showcasing the government’s dedication to creating a safer and more efficient transportation system for residents.
