Police body cam footage captures a shootout involving officers at a traffic stop in Virginia, resulting in the death of the gunman. The Fairfax County Police Department released the videos following the incident on April 23 in Fair Oaks.
The confrontation began when officers pulled over Jamal Wali for having an expired registration on his car. The footage shows Wali becoming argumentative as the officers approached him. Despite the officers’ professional and respectful demeanor, Wali, armed with a pistol, grew increasingly aggressive and fired at the cops when backup arrived. In the exchange of gunfire, Wali was killed by the officers, while two cops sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis defended his officers’ actions, stating that it would have been negligent for them to walk away from the traffic stop.
