Damen Shipyards Group, a Dutch shipbuilder, has secured a new tug order from Fairplay Towage based in Hamburg as part of its fleet renewal program. The contract includes three vessels – one RSD Tug 2513 and two ASD Tugs 2312 – with delivery expected later this year and early 2026. Additionally, Damen has signed a contract with Neue Schleppdampfschiffsreederei Louis Meyer. The tugs are designed for specific client needs, with options such as LNG firefighting and IMO Tier III compliance. Following construction in China and Vietnam, the vessels will be shipped to the Port of Rotterdam. Fairplay Towage’s Managing Director, Philip Harmstorf, emphasized the strategic decision to order from Damen for fleet modernization and commitment to sustainable technology. Damen Sales Manager for Germany, Joschka Böddeling, expressed gratitude for the continued trust from Fairplay and Louis Meyer, highlighting the benefits of harmonizing fleet structures. Damen has also recently signed a contract with Turkish conglomerate İÇDAŞ for the local construction of an ASD tug under the Damen Technical Cooperation agreement.
