A recent report by Lodging Econometrics revealed that Dallas is leading in hotel construction projects in the United States during the first quarter of 2025. Following Dallas are Atlanta, Nashville, Phoenix, and Austin in terms of hotel development activity.
Dallas stands out with 203 projects and 24,496 rooms, setting a new record for room count. Atlanta, Nashville, Phoenix, and Austin also show significant growth in project and room totals.
The report also highlights New York as having the most projects currently under construction, with Phoenix, Dallas, Atlanta, and the Inland Empire following suit.
Looking ahead, Dallas is projected to have the most projects starting within the next year, with Atlanta, Nashville, Austin, and the Inland Empire close behind. Additionally, Dallas leads in projects in the early planning stages.
Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, renovation and brand conversion projects are flourishing in the U.S. Washington DC, Charlotte, Atlanta, Houston, and Chicago are among the cities with notable activity in this area.
The report also mentions the announcement of 138 new projects totaling 19,800 rooms in the top 50 U.S. markets during Q1 2025, with Dallas, Austin, and New York at the forefront.
Furthermore, 161 new hotels with 18,767 rooms opened in the U.S. in the first quarter, with Atlanta, Dallas, and New York leading in hotel openings. LE predicts a further 579 new hotels with 64,781 rooms to open across the U.S. from Q2-Q4 2025.
Looking ahead to 2026, LE anticipates 848 new hotels with 92,892 rooms to open in the U.S. by the end of the year, with Dallas, Atlanta, Phoenix, and the Inland Empire leading in new hotel openings.
