Last week, a 36-year-old man from Colorado was taken into custody by Pueblo County sheriff’s deputies after allegedly assaulting his 18-year-old wife. The deputies had to wait a day to arrest Taggart Reike as they needed a warrant.
When deputies responded to a family disturbance call at Reike’s home on Thursday, he refused to cooperate and stayed inside. They found his wife outside with visible injuries, claiming that he had attacked her. She was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and later discharged.
Reike faces charges of assault, harassment, reckless endangerment, and domestic violence. This was not his first encounter with law enforcement, as he was involved in a standoff in 2020.
Reportedly, Reike is being held on a $50,000 bond. It is unclear whether his teenage wife is safe. For the latest updates on crime and justice news, you can subscribe to the ‘Crime Stories with Nancy Grace’ podcast.
