Chinese Man Buys $210,000 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class For Ride-hailing Business, Makes $4,800 A Month

A Chinese man named Yuan has made headlines on social media for purchasing a China-exclusive Mercedes-Maybach S-Class (S480) luxury sedan for his ride-hailing business.
Yuan, who spent 1.55 million yuan ($210,000) on the Mercedes-Maybach S480 in November 2024, shared that he completes around 40 orders per month and earns over 5,000 yuan (US$700) from a single trip.
The 30-year-old man, based in Beijing, chronicles his daily experiences on his profile, “Old Yuan Drives a Maybach for Ride-Hailing,” which has garnered nearly 120,000 followers.

In a video posted on April 13, Yuan disclosed that he kicks off his workday at 6:45 am and secures full-day bookings, making 4,000 yuan (US$550) in a single day.
Yuan explained that he funded the costly purchase by making a down payment of 680,000 yuan (US$93,000) – with 500,000 yuan coming from savings accumulated over six years in the ride-hailing sector.
Additionally, he mentioned that the remaining balance was covered by a five-year loan with monthly repayments of 14,466 yuan (US$2,000).

Despite covering running expenses and personal costs, Yuan claimed he can still save nearly 10,000 yuan (approximately $1,390) each month while leading a relatively comfortable lifestyle.
He shared, “My monthly fuel expenses are about 3,000 yuan (US$400). I allocate another 2,000 to 3,000 yuan for food, and my rent is 4,500 yuan (US$600). I still have some savings left. The best part is that I get to drive a Maybach at only 30 and still save close to 10,000 yuan a month,” Yuan added.
