Chevron and TotalEnergies have started oil and gas production from a deepwater project in the Gulf of America, previously known as the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The project involves connecting wells to Chevron’s Blind Faith floating production unit, resulting in an expected daily production of 75,000 barrels of oil and 50 million cubic feet of gas. The companies aim to leverage technology to enhance efficiency and reduce costs while increasing shareholder returns. The project, located southeast of New Orleans, is Chevron’s first in the Norphlet trend of the Gulf and is expected to contribute to TotalEnergies’ production growth in U.S. deepwater.
