CapStar Advisors (CapStar) has recently completed two significant transactions in the hospitality industry. The firm served as a representative for Springboard Hospitality during its merger with Hotel Equities and also finalized a strategic growth plan for Brightwild, a branded vacation rental company based in Key West, Florida.

According to David McCaslin, a partner at CapStar Advisors, there has been a growing focus on mergers and acquisitions in the hospitality sector over the past few years, emphasizing the importance of achieving scale for hospitality platforms. CapStar specializes in representing firms seeking to sell, merge, or recapitalize, working closely with owners and operators to find solutions that allow all parties involved to reach their full potential.

In one of the transactions, Springboard Hospitality merged its 50-hotel portfolio with Hotel Equities, a hospitality operator managing a diverse portfolio of approximately 200 hotels, resorts, and outdoor hospitality destinations across various regions. The merger enabled Hotel Equities to enter the Hawaii market and capitalize on the platform established by Springboard’s CEO, Ben Rafter, who will continue to lead the expanded Hotel Equities.

Regarding the Brightwild strategic plan, CapStar was engaged to assist the vacation rental company in Key West in developing a growth strategy to enhance its operational capabilities and achieve its growth objectives. The plan involved identifying new growth markets and segments to support Brightwild’s expansion plans.

Mike Phillips, CEO of Loci Capital, praised CapStar’s operational expertise, highlighting their experience dating back to the founding of the original CapStar in 1986 and its subsequent growth into Interstate Hotels & Resorts. Phillips commended the invaluable knowledge CapStar brought to the table in shaping Brightwild’s future growth initiatives.
