BMW Planning Electric i2 For 2030

BMW is preparing to launch its latest electric vehicle, the i2, in 2030. The BMW i2 is a four-door electric car designed for practicality and spaciousness, positioned as an entry-level model above the i1 hatchback in BMW’s electric lineup. Codenamed NB8, the i2 is expected to offer rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, aiming to provide a new and enjoyable experience in the small electric vehicle segment.

BMW intends to maintain its characteristic sporty driving feel even in its smallest electric cars. Bernd Kerber, BMW’s head of product management, highlighted the importance of small cars in attracting younger customers to the BMW brand and driving sales growth. While specific performance details are still undisclosed, the i2 will incorporate BMW’s sixth-generation (Gen6) battery technology, featuring more powerful and efficient cylindrical batteries to potentially achieve a driving range of over 700 kilometers on a single charge.
