Autojosh Reports BMW Announces Recall of 37,430 Cars
BMW, the well-known German automaker, is issuing a recall for 37,430 vehicles globally due to a serious issue involving a potentially mislocated cable in the 48-volt system. The affected models include Series 3, 4, 5, X3, and X5 produced between September 2024 and February 2025. In Germany alone, 710 vehicles are impacted, as reported by Fenix Magazine.
The problem lies in the connection of the battery’s starter-generator. If there is excessive resistance at the connection point, the contacts could overheat, leading to a fire risk or motor malfunction. For the X5 model, the issue only affects the long version designed specifically for the Chinese market.
In Germany, BMW will inform all affected owners through the Federal Motor Vehicle Administration (KBA). Authorized service centers will inspect the vehicles, checking the connection and replacing the positive cable or the entire starter-generator, if necessary, at no cost to the owners. Similar procedures are expected to be carried out in other countries.
