Algoma Endeavour, the latest environmentally friendly Equinox class ship of Canadian shipping company Algoma Central Corporation, recently visited the Port of Montreal to finalize its reflagging process. The vessel, measuring 225 meters long and 23.8 meters wide with a bulk cargo capacity of 29,300 tonnes, will now operate under the Canadian flag along the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes network. Delivered in February from the 3 Maj Shipyard in Rijeka, Croatia, the Endeavour is part of Algoma’s fleet renewal program, which involves a $600 million investment in twelve new vessels for its Canadian bulk fleet. These ships are designed for efficiency, with advanced technologies that reduce carbon intensity by 40% compared to older vessels. The Endeavour’s unique feature is its forward-mounted self-unloading boom, allowing for cargo delivery in tight spaces and improving port access. This ship, joining the Algoma Innovator and Algoma Intrepid, is the third in the fleet to have this capability.
