Accor and the World Monuments Fund (WMF) have partnered to support four cultural heritage sites highlighted in the 2025 World Monuments Watch. The collaboration aims to focus on preservation through local engagement, climate adaptation, and responsible tourism.

The initiative spans three years and will back projects in France, Latin America, Greece, and India. These locations were chosen for their cultural importance and potential for sustainable tourism practices that can have a lasting impact.

Accor’s CEO, Sébastien Bazin, emphasized the significance of protecting cultural heritage in the tourism industry. He expressed their commitment to responsible hospitality and connecting cultures with care through this collaboration with WMF.

The selected sites include the Chapel of the Sorbonne in France, the RICH ROAD – ANDEAN ROAD SYSTEM, the Serifos Historic Mining Landscape in Greece, and the Historic Water Systems of Bhuj in India. Each project focuses on different challenges such as restoration, transnational cooperation, conservation planning, and water system revitalization.

The partnership aims to support communities in preserving their cultural heritage while creating economic opportunities, improving site management, and enhancing local storytelling. This collaboration signifies a broader trend in the hospitality industry towards actively engaging in heritage preservation and sustainable tourism development. The sites were assessed based on Accor’s sustainability objectives and their potential to benefit the local communities.
