ABB, a Swedish-Swiss technology company, has agreed to acquire BrightLoop, a French company specialized in advanced power electronics, in order to expedite its electrification efforts in industrial mobility and marine propulsion. Under the agreement, ABB will initially obtain a 93% controlling stake in BrightLoop, with plans to secure the remaining 7% by 2028. The acquisition is anticipated to be finalized in the third quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approvals. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. BrightLoop, headquartered in Paris and established in 2010, has seen significant growth recently due to the growing shift towards electrification in its key sectors. The company offers a range of DC/DC converters for various industries, including transportation, marine, aerospace, hydrogen mobility, and defense. ABB aims to enhance its power conversion capabilities through this acquisition, enabling it to provide efficient and intelligent systems for demanding applications such as electric ferries and construction equipment. Edgar Keller, President of ABB’s Traction division, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting the potential to support cleaner and more efficient operations in transportation. BrightLoop’s CEO, Florent Liffran, shared his excitement about joining the ABB family and emphasized the joint commitment to delivering high-quality products to expanding markets.
