Volvo has teamed up with Unicontrol to introduce 3D machine control technology for Volvo excavators, aiming to provide advanced technology that is open, accessible, and user-friendly for increased efficiency. Unicontrol’s adaptable and cost-effective machine control system is compatible with any excavator, data format, and workflow. By requiring only one interface and one set of hardware, Volvo customers will have more options to optimize their fleet without being restricted to a single ecosystem. The Unicontrol 3D system will first launch in select European markets this year before expanding globally. Volvo’s Co-Pilot interface will serve as the main platform, enabling operators to access Unicontrol3D directly without the need for extra monitors or hardware. When customers order Co-Pilot with Dig Assist, all necessary hardware and software will be included, making it easy to activate the Unicontrol 3D application. Kurt Deleu, head of product management for excavators at Volvo CE, emphasized the commitment to making advanced technology accessible and user-friendly, welcoming partners like Unicontrol to provide innovative solutions. Niels Bjerregaard, CEO of Unicontrol, highlighted the growing demand for flexible and accessible 3D machine control, expressing confidence that the partnership with Volvo CE will prioritize efficiency, adaptability, and ease of use.
