Director Chris Columbus calls Trump’s ‘Home Alone 2’ cameo an ‘albatross’

In 2010, Chris Columbus attended a special screening of “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square Theater. During a recent interview, he expressed regret about President Donald Trump’s cameo in “Home Alone 2.” Columbus mentioned that the cameo has become a burden for him over the years. In the sequel, Macaulay Culkin’s character encounters Trump at the Plaza Hotel. Columbus explained that they needed to film at the Plaza Hotel, which Trump owned at the time, and Trump insisted on being in the movie. Trump disputed Columbus’s statements, claiming that Columbus had asked him to appear in the film. Columbus refuted this, stating that he would never beg a non-actor to be in a movie. The cameo has now become an unwanted issue for Columbus, who directed the original “Home Alone” and other popular films like “Mrs. Doubtfire” and the first two Harry Potter movies.
