Yvie Johnson is an artist overflowing with passion and creativity. Although she didn’t intend to become an illustrator, a calling in 2010 led her to transition from being a police officer to a freelance illustrator. Her work often centers on pets, portraits, places, and plants, aiming to capture the essence of life and stories that intrigue her.
Yvie’s style is characterized by vibrant colors and a deep exploration of complex emotions, reflecting her curiosity about her Welsh heritage and mythology. Despite being diagnosed with ME in 2018, a condition that severely limits her daily activities, she continues to create art using digital tools. Her recent illustrations for Women Enabled International showcase her commitment to representing individuals with disabilities in important global issues.
In addition to various ongoing projects, Yvie advocates for a more inclusive design industry, emphasizing the need for accessible venues and more stylish options for mobility aids. Her experiences with ME have given her valuable insights into how design can better serve all individuals, promoting compassion and understanding in her work.
