Renowned singer Billy Joel, aged 76, is maintaining positivity despite facing a serious health issue. Although Joel was unable to attend the debut of his new documentary titled “And So It Goes” due to being diagnosed with a brain disorder, he sent his well wishes to fans through director Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin at the Tribeca Film Festival, as reported by Variety.
In his message to fans, Joel humorously remarked that “getting old sucks, but it’s still preferable to getting cremated.” Director Susan Lacy assured the audience that Joel will make a comeback.
Billy Joel recently disclosed his diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), leading to the cancellation of all his upcoming shows. NPH affects his vision, hearing, and balance and is a rare condition that requires surgical intervention to alleviate the buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the skull.
Despite the setback, Joel expressed gratitude for the care he is receiving and emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health during his recovery. His wife, Alexis Roderick Joel, conveyed appreciation for the support and love they have received and shared optimism for Joel’s recuperation.
Billy Joel’s fans have shown understanding and empathy towards his health struggles, as he focuses on his well-being and looks forward to returning to the stage in the future.
