TGS performing geophysical survey for floating wind farm planned to power oil & gas platforms

TGS is currently conducting a geophysical survey for the Green Volt floating offshore wind project in Scotland, aimed at powering oil and gas platforms. The survey, being carried out by the seismic vessel Ramform Vanguard, involves an ultra-high resolution 3D seismic survey to provide detailed subsurface data for the wind farm’s site characterization. This enhanced data collection will help identify geological hazards and structural complexities, improving site assessment and risk mitigation strategies. The Green Volt project is set to be Europe’s first commercial-scale floating offshore wind farm, with plans for up to 35 floating wind turbines generating renewable electricity for oil and gas platforms and the UK grid.
