Next Geosolutions, a marine geosciences and offshore construction support services provider based in Italy, has partnered with the Norwegian shipyard Green Yard Kleven to convert one of its vessels for high-spec seabed surveys. The vessel, Of explorer, was originally built in 2010 as an offshore vessel and will now be repurposed for seabed investigations including geophysical, geotechnical, environmental, and UXO surveys. The conversion is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Both companies are focused on sustainability, with Green Yard Kleven aiming to extend the vessel’s lifespan and reduce waste generation. The project includes upgrading the ship with new accommodation facilities, meeting rooms, control rooms, and a launch and recovery system for ROVs. The conversion project is estimated to cost between €3 million and €5 million.
