“They did not accept our relationship”: Actor Jonathan Joss shot dead in alleged homophobic attack

Voice actor Jonathan Joss, famous for his role as John Redcorn in “King of the Hill,” was fatally shot in front of his San Antonio residence over the weekend. The incident occurred following a confrontation with a neighbor, Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, who allegedly shot Joss multiple times during a heated argument. Joss succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and Alvarez was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement a block away. Alvarez has since been charged with murder.

Joss’ spouse, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, contended that the shooting was a hate crime motivated by homophobia, revealing that they had faced years of abuse and threats from neighbors due to their relationship. De Gonzales emphasized that the attack was unprovoked and that Joss heroically shielded him from harm during the shooting. He lamented that Joss, a talented actor known for his work on “King of the Hill,” “Parks and Recreation,” and other productions, lost his life due to someone’s inability to accept their love for each other.
