Hormel Foods is recalling over 256,000 pounds of its Dinty Moore Beef Stew due to reports of wood pieces being found in some cans, as confirmed by U.S. health officials. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a national recall on May 28. The affected product comes in 20-ounce metal cans labeled “Dinty Moore Beef Stew” with specific details including a Best by date of FEB 2028, Lot code T02045, and Establishment number EST 199G. The cans were distributed to stores nationwide. The issue came to light after the company informed FSIS of three consumer complaints about wood pieces in the product. Fortunately, no injuries or illnesses have been reported. Consumers are advised to contact healthcare providers if they have concerns about injuries and should either discard the recalled beef stew or return it to the store of purchase. This incident is not isolated, as earlier in the year, Nestlé had to recall some Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s frozen meals due to similar findings of foreign materials.
