Turkish Ministry of Trade Initiates Antidumping Investigation on Solar PV Components from China
The Turkish Ministry of Trade has recently launched an antidumping investigation on solar PV aluminium frames and junction boxes imported from China. Local companies like Arslan Aluminium, Lazer Solar Energy Aluminium Systems, and Pantech Aluminium raised concerns about the alleged dumping of PV aluminium frames, while Ekinler Industry and Hatko requested an investigation into junction boxes.
The investigation period for the aluminium frames covers the period from the start of January 2022 to September 30, 2024, during which it was found that the unit price of imports from China undercut the domestic sales price. The Ministry of Trade stated that there was enough information and evidence to proceed with the investigation under Article 20 of the regulation.
Similar actions were taken for the junction boxes, with the investigation period extended until the end of 2024. For more details and the Ministry of Trade’s decision, visit the links provided in Turkish.
This move is the latest in a series of antidumping investigations by Turkey in the solar PV industry. Notably, in October 2024, Turkey imposed a US$25/m2 antidumping tariff on solar module products from several countries, exempting certain manufacturers. Additionally, plans are underway for significant investments in solar cell plants in Turkey by local and Chinese-owned companies.
The upcoming conference aims to bring together key stakeholders in the PV industry to discuss the future of PV manufacturing beyond 2030.
