US Company’s Cutting-Edge Solution Enhancing Safety for Offshore Operations with Data-Driven Approach
A US-based provider of solutions for managing ocean data, Terradepth, has secured a long-term agreement with an undisclosed offshore energy company to supply geospatial data services.
Under the five-year deal with a significant player in the industry, Terradepth will offer Ocean Data as a Service (ODaaS), which includes autonomous hydrographic survey and data services at a reduced time and cost compared to traditional methods.
The initial project utilizing Terradepth’s solutions will involve a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
Terradepth’s Chief Operating Officer, Kris Rydberg, emphasized that the agreement demonstrates the company’s ability to provide a comprehensive solution at a more affordable price point through autonomous data acquisition via a secure cloud-native platform.
Terradepth’s strategy involves deploying a vertically integrated ODaaS solution, starting from autonomous subsea data collection with robots to delivering processed data through its Absolute Ocean platform, offering scalable subsea data visualization and management.
By offering Ocean Data as a Service, Terradepth aims to address challenges in subsea operations related to cost, speed, access, and repeatability in sectors such as offshore energy, subsea fiber, and electric cable infrastructure, with an adaptable and integrated solution.
The company’s COO highlighted that the integrated workflow allows all stakeholders to utilize bathymetric data for conducting operations safely and sustainably.
Terradepth’s technology was previously selected by Oceaneering International to enhance ocean data management and visualization capabilities in their activities. In a subsequent interview, Terradepth’s COO stressed the importance of rapid access and processing of data in an underwater environment that is continuously evolving.
