Boston police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a driver and his vehicle with a hatchet during a road rage incident late on Friday night. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Andrew Oprian, is wanted for assault with a dangerous weapon and damaging property.

According to WCVB, the Boston Police Department stated that the suspect chased the victim’s vehicle at high speed, leading to a crash. Subsequently, the suspect exited a gray pickup truck with a hatchet, attacked the victim, and vandalized the victim’s car by breaking windows and the windshield before fleeing towards Brookline on Babcock Street.

Videos released by the police depict Oprian smashing the victim’s car windows in the violent incident that occurred shortly before midnight, as reported by Boston 25. A witness, Matt Silva, mentioned that the victim, driving a Toyota Prius, was unaware of why the suspect was tailing him at high speed in a pickup truck.

Oprian is currently evading authorities, and anyone with information is urged to reach out to the Boston police at 617-343-4260 or provide an anonymous tip through CrimeStoppers. To stay updated on crime and justice news, listeners can subscribe to the ‘Crime Stories with Nancy Grace’ podcast.
