Naperville police have once again arrested someone for a firearm-related offense in the Topgolf parking lot. This marks the 10th such arrest in or around the lot this year. The latest individual taken into custody is 28-year-old Roberto Chacon from Alsip. He faces a felony charge of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, as well as charges of cannabis possession and unlawful cannabis use while driving. Chacon is set to appear in court on June 26, as per DuPage County Circuit Court records.

According to Naperville police spokeswoman Kelley Munch, officers discovered drugs and a handgun in plain sight inside an unoccupied Honda during a proactive foot patrol of the Topgolf lot. They waited until three individuals returned to the vehicle, leading to the recovery of cannabis and a loaded handgun.

After a hiatus of nearly four months, gun-related arrests resumed outside the facility in early February. Last month alone, five such arrests were made in the lot. Prior to this year, Naperville police had made 25 gun-related arrests outside Topgolf between August 2023 and October 2024.

In addition to Chacon’s arrest, an investigation is underway following an incident where a 33-year-old Chicago man allegedly assaulted an officer in the Topgolf lot. Danzel Swift was arrested late Saturday night and charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, possession of open alcohol, and unlawful cannabis possession. Officers observed four individuals drinking in the lot and later discovered cups, a liquor bottle, and a firearm case in plain view inside a vehicle.

When officers approached the group, Swift reportedly elbowed an officer in the face during his arrest. A firearm was seized, and an investigation into the gun’s ownership is ongoing. Swift is scheduled for his next court appearance on June 16.
