U.S. travel agencies have reported $8.8 billion in air ticket sales in April 2025, marking a 6% decrease compared to the same month in 2024. Despite the decline in sales, the number of passenger trips increased by 1% year over year, totaling 25.7 million. This data was released by the Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC).

The breakdown of the April 2025 results is as follows:

– Total sales amounted to $8.8 billion, showing a 6% decrease compared to the previous year.
– The total number of passenger trips was 25.7 million, with a 1% increase year over year.
– Domestic trips within the U.S. reached 16.2 million, showing a 1% increase from the previous year.
– International trips totaled 9.5 million, also with a 1% increase from the previous year.
– The average ticket price was $536, down by 3% compared to the previous year.
– The average price for economy class tickets was $476, showing a 2% increase from the previous year.
– The average price for premium class tickets remained unchanged at $1,233.

Passenger trips booked through online travel agencies saw a 6% increase year over year, while trips for leisure and corporate travel experienced declines of 4% and 6%, respectively. Steve Solomon, ARC’s chief commercial officer, highlighted that corporate travel faced challenges due to economic uncertainty and the timing of the Easter holiday in late April. Despite these challenges, overall passenger trips for domestic and international travel remained higher than in 2024, demonstrating the resilience of travel demand.

NDC transactions accounted for 19.6% of the total ARC-reported transactions in April 2025, representing a 2% increase from the previous year. A total of 905 travel agencies reported NDC transactions in April 2025.
