Vermeer Intros Simple Locator to Find Buried Utility Lines: the Verifier G1

Vermeer has introduced the Verifier G1 utility locator, which is a user-friendly device used to detect buried utilities before excavation. The handheld locator identifies utilities by sweeping the receiver over the ground and displays the estimated depth on its LCD screen. Vermeer claims that the device simplifies the process by eliminating complicated menus and settings, making it easy to use. The depth measurements provided by the Verifier G1 are accurate to within 2.5% at a depth of 6.5 feet and it offers a long battery life of up to 30 hours for the receiver and 50 hours for the transmitter when in direct connection mode. The device is rated IP54 for protection against water and dust, making it suitable for use by utility contractors, owners, and municipalities. However, Vermeer emphasizes that the Verifier G1 is not a replacement for calling 811, as it is still essential to verify and expose all utilities before excavation and trenchless operations. The Verifier G1 locator is designed to provide reliable data to confirm the location of marked utilities, helping crews to work efficiently and avoid delays. Included with the Verifier G1 are a carrying case, receiver, transmitter, ground stake, direct connect cables, universal coil clamp, and an operator’s manual. The device features a waterproof coil clamp that fits all sizes of utilities, antennas on both the left and right sides, and adjustable transmitter frequency and power output from a distance of up to 500 feet. Additionally, it comes with a 3-year service coverage that includes protection against water damage. Vermeer’s Territory Sales Manager, Aaron James, states that the Verifier G1 fulfills the industry’s need for a simple yet accurate solution, allowing crews to start locating utilities immediately without dealing with complex menus.
