Polish shipyard CRIST S.A. recently marked the beginning of construction for a new offshore support vessel for Norwegian company DOF Group. The keel laying ceremony for the vessel, named the Sea Dragon (hull number NB110), took place at CRIST’s shipyard in Gdynia on May 13, 2025. This 110-meter long DP3 ice-class vessel is set to accommodate 164 individuals and will be capable of various operations such as crew changes, drilling support, safety standby, emergency towing, and ice management. Expected to be delivered by the first quarter of 2027, the vessel is based on the MMC 995L SBC design from MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting. CRIST has stated that the vessel will be outfitted with advanced systems to ensure safe and accurate operations even in challenging sea conditions, including Walk2Work and DP3 dynamic positioning from Kongsberg Maritime. The construction of the vessel began with a steel-cutting ceremony in January 2025, followed by orders being placed with several suppliers, including MAN and Palfinger Marine, two months later.
