Glen Rogers, a convicted murderer, was executed in Florida on Thursday evening for the killing of Tina Marie Cribbs in 1995. He was put to death by lethal injection at the Florida State Prison near Starke. Rogers, 62, was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m. EDT. Prior to his execution, he addressed his victims and expressed his readiness to “go.” Rogers was convicted in 1997 of murdering Cribbs, a 34-year-old mother of two, whom he met in a Hillsborough bar. He stole her car after the murder and was apprehended in Kentucky following a car chase. Governor Ron DeSantis signed Rogers’ death warrant last month, and the Florida Supreme Court denied his last appeal in 2021. Rogers claimed to have endured sexual abuse as a child and while incarcerated, but his appeals were rejected. His execution led to criticism from anti-death penalty advocates, who condemned the state’s actions. Rogers had also been convicted of another murder in California and was linked to several other killings. He is the fifth person to be executed in Florida this year, with more scheduled in other states.
