Mr. John Lee, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, led a delegation to Kuwait as part of a broader visit to the Middle East. The delegation aimed to strengthen partnerships and explore new opportunities in the Middle Eastern market. During the mission, a total of 59 MoUs and announcements were facilitated to enhance collaboration between Hong Kong, the mainland, Qatar, and Kuwait.
The business delegation, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, visited Kuwait City for five days, where they engaged in various activities to foster partnerships and create synergy between Hong Kong, the mainland, and the Middle Eastern market. The delegation met with key organizations in Kuwait, such as the Kuwait Investment Authority and Kuwait Chamber of Commerce, to discuss investment opportunities and collaborations.
The delegation also visited the Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre to learn about Kuwaiti culture and history. Dr. Peter K N Lam, Chairman of the HKTDC, highlighted the success of the mission and emphasized the commitment to promoting cooperation between Hong Kong and the Middle East.
Mr. John Lee emphasized the growing ties between Hong Kong and the Middle East, including collaborations on investment funds and stock exchanges. The delegation’s visit aimed to strengthen economic and cultural links between Hong Kong and Kuwait, with a focus on sustainable development and carbon neutrality.
During a business luncheon attended by 270 business leaders and officials, MoUs and announcements were exchanged to further enhance cooperation between Hong Kong and Kuwait. The HKTDC will continue to support the expansion of Hong Kong and mainland businesses into international markets, promoting growth and opportunities for SMEs.
