Choice Hotels International, Inc. released its 2024 Sustainability Report in North Bethesda, Maryland. Megan Brumagim, the vice president of upscale brands and chief sustainability officer, emphasized the company’s dedication to implementing sustainable practices. The report showcases their efforts to reduce the environmental impact and create long-term value for hotel owners. Choice Hotels is pleased with the progress made and is committed to working towards a more sustainable future.

The report includes several key highlights. Choice Hotels disclosed its Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions for the first time, in addition to Scope 1 and 2 emissions. This step is crucial in meeting their goal of setting science-based targets. The company also announced a partnership with the National Park Foundation, pledging a yearly donation of $150,000 and introducing a feature for Choice Privileges members to convert points into donations. The collaboration aims to support America’s national parks, given that 95 percent of U.S. hotels are situated within a 90-minute drive of a national park.

Furthermore, in 2024, the “Your Community, Your Choice” grant program marked its fifth year by donating a total of $275,000 to local nonprofits. The recipients of the 2024 grants include organizations addressing various issues such as food security, veteran support, and youth education. Choice Hotels’ program supports causes that are significant to hotel owners by providing grants to local groups.
