The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is set to be launched at the Intermountain Health Grand Junction Integrated Addiction Medicine Clinic in June 2025. The program aims to provide support to teenagers aged 14-18 as they work towards improving their mental health and personal development.

Taking place over an eight-week period, the program will consist of two 2-hour group sessions, individual therapy sessions, and a family component each week. Located at 2643 Patterson Road, Suite 603 in Grand Junction, Colorado, the clinic emphasizes the importance of family involvement, offering family therapy sessions and multi-family group sessions to ensure a strong support system.

Behavioral health coordinator at Intermountain Health, Dr. Jessica Stephen Premo, highlighted the significance of the program in addressing the mental health needs of adolescents within the community. The structured support and therapy provided by the program aim to empower young individuals in overcoming mental health challenges and establishing a foundation for long-term recovery.

The initiative is a response to the 2024 Mesa County Community Health Needs Assessment, which identified concerns regarding alcohol consumption among adults and teens. With funding from various sources, including grants from the State of Colorado, Mesa County’s Opioid Abatement Council, and The Steadman Group, the program seeks to combat substance use and mental health disorders in Western Colorado, particularly among adolescents.

The clinic will start accepting referrals from May 1, and those seeking more information can contact the Integrated Addiction Medicine Clinic at 970-298-3801. Intermountain Health, a not-for-profit healthcare system based in Utah and operating across six states, is known for its commitment to improving community health through evidence-based practices and high-quality care delivery.
