President Donald Trump has confirmed that Qatar is offering the United States a luxury Boeing 747 jet for free, which will serve as a temporary replacement for Air Force One.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his frustration with Democrats who are critical of the transaction, emphasizing that the Defense Department is receiving the aircraft as a gift. Reports have suggested that the Trump administration is preparing to accept the Boeing 747 plane from Qatar, which has been described as a “flying palace.”
Qatar’s Media Attaché to the U.S., Ali Al-Ansari, clarified that the reports of the jet being gifted were inaccurate. He stated that discussions about a possible temporary transfer of an aircraft to serve as Air Force One were underway between Qatar’s Ministry of Defense and the U.S. Department of Defense.
The ownership of the luxury plane is expected to be transferred to the Trump presidential library foundation after Trump’s time in office. Legal analysis from the White House counsel’s office and the Department of Justice has reportedly deemed the acceptance of the plane from Qatar and its subsequent transfer to be lawful.
President Trump has been critical of Boeing’s delays in producing new Air Force One planes, with the completion timeline pushed back to 2027 and 2028 for the replacement aircraft.
