130,000 more Igloo coolers recalled over amputation fears

Igloo has issued a recall for an additional 130,000 coolers due to concerns that the pinch points on the handles and latches could cause finger amputations. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission shared the news on Friday, expanding on a previous recall from February that affected over a million Igloo coolers. The CPSC stated that the tow handle could trap consumers’ fingertips, creating risks of fingertip amputations and crushing injuries. The latest additions to the recall include 9-quart Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers made at a facility in Katy, Texas, before January 2024. These coolers were sold at various retailers such as Costco, Target, Academy, Dick’s, as well as online on Amazon and Igloo’s website. Since the initial recall in February 2025, Igloo has received 78 reports of fingertip injuries, including 26 cases of fingertip amputations, bone fractures, or cuts. Igloo has confirmed that they will replace the affected products.
