The petition urges lawmakers to investigate alleged money laundering in the controversial US$100 million Zimbabwe Electoral Commission tender awarded to Chivayo’s companies. Moyo cited constitutional provisions empowering Parliament to oversee the use of public funds and highlighted a report by South Africa’s Financial Intelligence Centre flagging potential criminal activities in the tender deal. The report revealed large sums transferred to Chivayo and raised concerns about his financial activities, including extravagant spending on luxury items. Moyo stressed the need for transparency and accountability in government spending, emphasizing that the deal was taxpayer-funded.
