Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) has introduced a new bill aimed at making sanctuary cities “accountable,” with Breitbart News having exclusive access to the proposed legislation. The bill, titled the “No Student Visas for Sanctuary Cities Act,” seeks to hold sanctuary cities responsible for aiding illegal migrants by amending the Immigration and Nationality Act to prevent student visas from being granted to institutions in these jurisdictions.

Hageman expressed concerns about sanctuary city officials prioritizing illegal migrants over their constituents and undermining the rule of law. The congresswoman emphasized that the bill serves as an accountability measure to pressure sanctuary cities to comply with federal regulations.

The legislation has garnered support from co-sponsors Reps. Brandon Gill (R-TX), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and Troy Nehls (R-TX). It defines sanctuary jurisdictions as those that refuse to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainers or impede communication with federal immigration officials.

In a letter to President Donald Trump introducing the bill, Hageman commended his efforts to enforce immigration laws and urged action against sanctuary jurisdictions hindering national security. She highlighted the bill as a tool to compel compliance with immigration enforcement measures.

Hageman criticized the government for prioritizing an elite group over the average American in a previous interview with Breitbart News, where she also criticized former Rep. Liz Cheney as a “globalist.”
