Carlos Sainz was not penalized for his collision with Lewis Hamilton during the final lap of the 2025 Miami Grand Prix after an investigation found neither driver at fault. Stewards explained that both drivers were involved in the incident, with Sainz attempting an overtake inside Turn 17 and Hamilton turning earlier than usual. No further action was taken as no driver was predominantly blamed for the clash.
Despite the incident, Sainz secured a P9 finish, with his Ferrari teammate Alex Albon finishing in P5. The race was challenging for Hamilton as he struggled with team orders and tire wear, eventually allowing Leclerc to pass him back to their original positions. The Scuderia chief, Fred Vasseur, clarified that the team rule required the swap and felt it was the right decision to aid Hamilton’s progress in catching Kimi Antonelli.
The 2025 Miami Grand Prix results saw Oscar Piastri of McLaren claiming the top spot, followed by Lando Norris and George Russell. The race also marked a DNF for Liam Lawson, Gabriel Bortoleto, Oliver Bearman, and Jack Doohan.
