French Crypto Mogul’s Father Kidnapped, Had Finger ‘Cut Off’ In Ransom Attempt

French police conducted a nighttime operation to rescue the father of a wealthy cryptocurrency entrepreneur after he was kidnapped for ransom, marking another incident of extortion involving individuals linked to digital assets in France. The man was abducted in Paris on Thursday morning, according to the prosecutor’s office. The victim, identified as the father of a cryptocurrency magnate, was found in a house in the Essonne region near Paris and was freed on Saturday night. The man was treated for injuries, with reports suggesting that the kidnappers had severed one of his fingers. Five suspects were apprehended by the police, with four found in or near the house where the victim was held and the fifth located in a vehicle believed to have been used in the abduction. Authorities are considering various charges, including kidnapping with torture or a barbaric act. This incident comes after a similar case in January involving the co-founder of a French crypto-wallet company, Ledger, and his wife being kidnapped from their home in the central region of Cher.
