Japan awards 1.4 GW of BESS in second long-term auction

In Japan’s recent Long-Term Decarbonization Auction (LTDA), 1.4 GW of battery energy storage (BESS) was assigned. BESS emerged as the most popular technology, as only 20% of the requested capacity was granted.
