The Big Mamma Group, based in Paris, is set to expand its presence in the UK by opening a new Circolo Popolare restaurant in Manchester in June 2025.

This move marks the group’s first venture into northern England, following the recent launch of the Big Mamma restaurant in London. The new restaurant will be situated at No. 1 St Michael’s, a part of Manchester’s Deansgate area. This expansion adds to the Big Mamma Group’s existing UK portfolio, which includes Gloria, Carlotta, Ave Mario, and Jacuzzi in London, as well as the La Bellezza restaurant in Birmingham.

The Manchester location will feature a two-level layout, with the ground floor offering a courtyard ambiance adorned with greenery, while the upper level will boast a more intimate setting with alcoves and an open kitchen. Design elements will include a ceiling adorned with eucalyptus and a traditional Italian-style wishing well.

Inspired by Sardinian outdoor festivities, Circolo Popolare Manchester will have a capacity of around 230 guests. The restaurant will incorporate familiar visual aspects from other Big Mamma venues while introducing new elements tailored to the Manchester site.

Head chef Alfonso Esposito, hailing from Campania, is crafting a menu that will feature both new and signature dishes like Neapolitan pizza, burrata, and pistachio tiramisu. Co-founders Victor Lugger and Tigrane Seydoux noted that the Manchester menu will have its own distinct offerings, possibly drawing inspiration from other international Circolo locations.

The opening is scheduled for June 2025, with the specific launch date yet to be announced.
