According to a recent poll on the Equipment World website, a little over half of the contractors surveyed intend to buy heavy construction equipment this year. Nearly 51% of respondents plan to acquire one to three pieces of equipment, while 26% do not plan to make any purchases. The survey had 128 participants.
Less than 12% of the contractors are considering buying four to six machines, 9% are looking to purchase 10 or more, and only 2% are thinking about acquiring seven to nine pieces of equipment.
One contractor mentioned that their buying decisions are mostly based on managing their tax bill. Various factors influencing the decision to purchase one to three machines in 2025 include interest rates, available financing options, equipment prices, and the number of bids won.
Contractors looking to buy more than three machines highlighted a strong economy, pricing, financing, and the necessity to expand their equipment fleet as reasons for their decision.
On the other hand, contractors who are not planning any equipment purchases for 2025 cited reasons such as having fewer projects lined up and uncertainty about the economy.
