During the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 21, 2025, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box. Anthropic’s AI named Claude can now carry out tasks on various business apps such as generating invoices on PayPal and analyzing sales on Square. This comes as Claude transitions from answering user queries to executing actions on their behalf across platforms like Zapier, Plaid, and JIRA. According to an Anthropic spokesperson, users can direct Claude to perform tasks across different business tools, with the feature currently available on select plans and more to come.

Since its launch in March 2023 by former OpenAI executives, Anthropic has seen significant growth, with its latest funding round valuing the company at $61.5 billion. Annual revenue has reached $2 billion, a substantial increase from previous figures, driven largely by enterprise and coding businesses. Claude’s popularity has surged as more businesses adopt generative AI chatbots for sales, marketing, and customer service. Anthropic has also introduced the Advanced Research tool, enabling Claude to produce detailed research reports quickly.
